Fishing!

We took the kids fishing one evening at a little pond in Herriman. Garrett had the perfect spot in mind and so when we got there he got all ready to fish. He is an impatient fisherman. If he doesn't catch something in a few minutes he will reel in his line and cast again. (But really... who's not like that?)

Here is a picture of his "Prize Winner" It might not be very big but it was the biggest caught out of the 2 kids.

The funniest thing was he decided he wanted to change spots so he reeled in his line and was getting ready to move and he slipped in the water. It came up to his chest and he yells "MOM" and I look over and went to help him out. The look on his face was "Priceless" but I put my camera down to help him out of the water. I wish I would of snapped a picture then helped him out. I know... I know... Mean Mom.

My little princess loves to fish. She was even touching the worms. (yuck!) She was casting her line out and waiting a few but then her and daddy noticed that their were a whole bunch of little fish right along the side of the pond. So she reeled in her line and fished from the side. She ended up catching 9 little fish.

I love this picture of her and daddy fishing. They were both having so much fun.

Then there is poor Grandpa Ed. He keep casting his line into the trees.

Summer Fun!

Here is just some of the things we did this Summer...

We went up to Mill Creek Canyon for a picnic on Sunday afternoon. The weather was great. It was the perfect temperature. We had a great time visiting with family.

My Boys

Katelyn and Afton

Garrett

Erin cracks me up!

Ziva, Bijoux and Nick had a great time playing together.

We got a visit from Amy and her family. It was a lot of fun seeing them. It's weird with her living in Hawaii because now we can't talk every day like we use to. But the kids were all excited to see each other and in 4 months all the kids have sure grown up.

We went to Montana this Summer for my Grandpa's memorial. He passed away in May and since my dad's family gets together every year on the 4th of July weekend they thought that would be a great time to celebrate my Grandpa's life. The kids were excited to go but it was a 9 hour drive. They did awesome on the drive up. We only had a few fights over what movie to watch and playing DS games.

This was James's favorite part of the whole trip. And he even got to see it twice.

The hardest part about our little trip to Montana was there was absolutely NOTHING to do. The mosquitos were so bad you couldn't just hang out outside. There was a small park but it only had "Baby" things there and sitting in your motel room was just boring. So Sunday we took a little drive with Grandpa Dan and he was showing us all the 3 things there were in White Sulpher Springs... We ended up going into this Castle that was up on the hill. It was interesting and something to do but the guy who took us around the Castle just keep rambling about the guy who built it.

All we were missing is Amy

It was a quick trip. We went up on Saturday morning and left Monday morning. But I'm glad we went for my dad and to celebrate my Grandpa's life.

They got their summer hair do's. Garrett cut his so short but loved it because he didn't have to fix it. It just stayed the same way. We added some red color in Katelyn's hair but it was nice because it washed out in 5 washes. So by time she was sick of it... It was gone.

This was their summer attire. They were always wearing their swimming suits.

We went to the Zoo to see the Dinosaurs. It is amazing what people can do. The work into these things were amazing. I loved the ones that sprayed the kids with water. It was great. We went to the Zoo with my friend Jen and her 2 boys. We had a great time.
We also went swimming at Classic Skating. It was great because it wasn't to crowded and it was small enough the kids were out on their own. They loved going down the slides but it took a few to want to go down fast. It was a fun day!

Katelyn got her skirt from Aunt Amy for her Birthday. She loves it...

Here is why there is never any pictures of me. This is what I'm always doing.
(Thanks to Katelyn for taking the picture.)

Lagoon

We took the kids to Lagoon but we didn't tell them we were going. (It was kind of like those Disneyland commercials) We told them we were going to Granny and Grandpa's and so they assumed we were going there so the kids could paint their flower planters. Josh, Susie and the girls showed up so we told the kids we needed to go to Home Depot to get paint. Josh said we needed to go to the one up north because their paint was on sale. So we were off. We got over by Lagoon and Garrett and Katelyn asked if it was opened yet. We told them we didn't think so but we will drive by to see. We drove into the parking lot and said "looks like there open" Do you want to go? And the look on their faces were priceless....

We all had a great time and can't wait to go again next year...

Katelyn's room

This year for the kids' Birthday's we were going to repaint their rooms. So I did Garrett's back in January now it was Katelyn's turn. I looked around for a while to find a fun comforter for her room. I found this cute striped one at Walmart and I thought that would be a fun one because of all the bright colors. When we were thinking about wall color we didn't want to go with a light pink because then it would look like a Pepto Bismal room. So I wanted to go with the darker pink. I went to paint store after paint store and I couldn't find a color close. A couple places tried to match the color and couldn't so I finally tried Sherwin Williams and they had a HGTV color that was close. So I bought a sample of it and came home and painted it on a piece of paper and taped it to her wall. I asked James what he thought and he said "Do whatever you want" so I did... When I first started painting it just laughed because it was such a dramatic change from the light green. But after a few days, I really like it. I like the brightness and Katelyn likes it too.

I just need to print some vinyl and put it on her bare wall...

Projects

Here are a few things I have been working on lately. I have to say I like doing this stuff. I re-finished this nightstand for Katelyn's room. I decided to paint it Turquoise and then I was going to antique it but when I sanded it and saw the white coming through I liked that better. It's hard to see it in the pictures but I think it turned out really cute.

She has been wanting a jewelry box for a while now since she has her ear's pierced and has quite a few earrings. I found this jewelry box at Hobby Lobby on clearance because it had a few nicks and dings in it so I thought it would be perfect I will just re-paint it. So I did and it looks kind of cute. I think it would of been better if I would of spray painted it but I painted it will acrylic paint so you can see some brush stokes. But it still looks okay.

We bought these end tables a while ago at Lowes on clearance. So I finally decided to paint it. (I still have 3 more to do). I used a black satin paint but a semi gloss clear coat. It seems a little to shiny right now but I thought it would be easier to clean up. I could decide if I wanted to antique it and put a glaze over it. So I left it all black. Maybe I will try something different with one of the other ones we have.
